| | | Sheldon, IA: Dolores Baatz, 63, of Sheldon formerly of Inwood, died Saturday, July 8, 2006 of a brief illness at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Service will be 11 am Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood. Burial at Richland Cemetery, Inwood. Rev. John Wolf will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday until 5 pm at Porter Funeral Home, Inwood, and then with family present 6:30-8:30 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Dolores Edith Baatz was born August 17, 1942 southwest of Rock Valley, daughter of Willie and Emma (Ranschau) Baatz. Dolores was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church south of Rock Valley and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She graduated West Lyon High School in 1960; Augustana College at Sioux Falls, SD in 1964; and later obtained her Masters Degree in Education at the USD at Vermillion, SD. Dolores taught 3rd and 4th grades at the Sheldon Community Elementary School (1964-2006) for 42 years.
Dolores is survived by her mother Emma Baatz of Inwood; brothers, Lloyd Baatz of Indianapolis, IN, Edwin (Jan) Baatz of Inwood, Leroy (Judy) Baatz of Sault St. Marie, MI; sisters, Dorothy Markle of Canton, SD, and Audrey Baatz of Emmetsburg, IA; 2 nieces, Renae Johnson of Canton, SD, Jill Casanova of Montrose, SD; 1 nephew, William Baatz of Sault St. Marie, MI; 3 step-nieces: Jana Schroeder, Jenelle Koball and Sara Hutchison and their families; grand-nephew Jordan Johnson; 3 grand-nieces, Josie, Cayce, and Bailey Johnson; and special friend, Jan Ploeger of Sheldon, IA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Baatz; infant brother, William.
