| | | Inwood, IA: Leona Andresen, 100, of Canton, SD, formerly of Inwood, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the Canton Good Samaritan Center. Burial will be at 2 pm Sunday at Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Alvord, followed by 3 pm Memorial Service at Porter Funeral Home at Inwood. Visitation with the family will be 7-8:30 pm Saturday at Porter Funeral Home, Inwood.
Leona Meyer was born December 16, 1905 to Peter and Anna (Kroeger) Meyer in Doon, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Alvord. Leona was united in marriage to Wilbur Andresen on January 30, 1929 in Rock Rapids, IA. Together they farmed near Alvord until 1967. Wilbur and Leona enjoyed traveling and they both shared the love for the farm. Wilbur died October 10, 1983. Leona moved to Inwood on June 1, 1989 and on May 14, 2006 she moved to Good Samaritan Center, Canton, SD. Leona was a link to the historical past and never lost her love for the land and farming.
Leona was survived by her daughter, Arlene Serck of Alvord; 5 grandchildren, Gene (Luann) Serck of Rock Rapids, IA, Steven (Robyn) of Alvord, IA, Dave (Lisa) Serck of Sioux Falls, SD, Greg Serck of Orlando, FL, and Koni (Dale) Kooima of Rock Valley, IA; 12 great-grandchildren.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur.
