CHATSWORTH, IOWA- M.C. “BUD” BARRETT, 69, of Chatsworth, Iowa died Monday, February 7, 2005 at the Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden with Pastor Stuart Schreur officiating. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting with arrangements.
Morvin Charles (M.C. “Bud”) Barrett was born August 19, 1935 at Homestead, Iowa the son of Morvin and Rosella (Holtey) Barrett. He served with the US Army from 1953 to 1956.
Bud later married Charlene Allen on February 27, 1987 at Elk Point, South Dakota. They made their home in Chatsworth, Iowa. Bud had been an over the road truck driver, which led to his love of traveling. He also enjoyed doing board games and spending time with his family and friends. Bud was involved with the VFW.
He is survived by his wife Charlene of Chatsworth; his five children, Carrie Barrett of Tempe, Arizona, Cathy and Dan Teply of Elk Point, South Dakota, Susanne and Marc Kapaska of Loveland, Colorado, Bud and Glenda Barrett of Traer, Iowa and Michael and Misty Barrett also of Loveland; Charlene’s five children, Jody and Becky Frye of North Sioux City, South Dakota, Jamie and Rhonda Frye of Sioux City, Iowa, Jerry and Pam Frye of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Marty and Julie Waterman of Chatsworth and Jeff and Kim Dean of Papillion, Nebraska; a brother, Wayne and Helen Barrett of Ruthven, Iowa; a sister, Irene Deckard of Springfield, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Larry and Colleen Allen of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Bob Gray of Hawarden and Beverly and Roger Juffers of Sioux City; 34 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
