| | | Hawarden, IA: Dorothy Buol, 84, of Hawarden, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Hawarden Community Hospital following a short illness. Memorial Service will be 11 am Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home, Hawarden. Rev. Frederick R. Jordan will be officiating.
Dorothy was born August 12, 1923 at Smithland, IA, daughter of Bertie and Marjorie (Metcalf) Carey. She grew up in Sioux City and later moved to Hawarden where she worked as a waitress. Dorothy married Raymond Buol on February 7, 1942 at Dakota City, NE. They lived in Hawarden where Dorothy worked at Otis, cook at Toms Café and nursing home, and later worked at K-Products. They also lived in Columbus, KS (1968-72) where she worked in a garment factory. Raymond died July 26, 1995.
Survivors include her son, Robert (Donna) Buol of Clear Lake, IA; daughter, Karen (Gary) Worrell of Smithland, IA; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Danny Ray Buol; daughter, Kathleen Gideon; grandson, Daniel Dallas Buol; infant brother, Newton Carey; sister, Catherine Dierking Scholl.
