Hull, IA: Justin Bousema, 25, was called home to his Heavenly Father after fighting a courageous battle with Aplastic Anemia, Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Monday at First Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery. Rev. Mike Van Hamersveld and Rev. Steve Bierly will be officiating. Visitation with family will be Sunday 1-4 pm at First Reformed Church. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley in charge of arrangements.

Justin Dean Bousema was born December 7, 1982 at Rock Valley, son of Ralph and Sheri (Koldenhoven) Bousema. He was active at Rock Valley Community School including, football, speech, drama, National Honor Society, choir, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, graduating in 2001. Justin also was involved in Teens Encounter Christ program where he met and started dating Bethany in their senior year. Justin and Bethany Raman were married on June 24, 2005 at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley. In 2006 both Justin and Bethany graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD where Justin obtained his Psychology degree; he was an EMT and firefighter for Vermillion; involved with the USD disaster response program; and worked as a Red Cross Volunteer on many disasters including Hurricane Katrina, Black Hills Forest fires, and floods. During his senior year, Justin was called by God into the ministry. He was attending the Sioux Falls Seminary and had plans to graduate with a Master of Divinity Degree in 2009 and was honored to be 2007’s Key Student Speaker at the Seminary’s annual banquet. While in seminary he was active in many church activities and was a student intern at the American Reformed Church in Hull where he helped lead youth groups, worship service, and was active in the Teens Encounter Christ Program as a Spiritual Director on the TEC Council. Justin was a spiritual leader to all who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered as a man of faith.

Justin was survived by his wife, Bethany; parents, Ralph and Sheri Bousema of Rock Valley; sister, Ashley (Eric) Visser and child, Baileigh of Brandon, SD; brother, Ross Bousema of Rock Valley; grandparents, Ron and Mary Koldenhoven, Wilma Bousema all of Rock Valley; parents-in-law, Perry and Audrey Raman; brothers-in-law, Aric (Tressa) Van Voorst and children, Maddie, Andrew, and Grace of Hull, Nathan (Alicia) Raman and child, Brody of Hull; sisters-in-law, Anita (Eldon) Vanden Brink and children, Austin, Abbey, Annie, and Allie of Hull, Stacy (Eric) Ribbens and children, Jenna, Sadie, Owen of Hull.

Justin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Geraldine Koldenhoven and grandfather, Richard Bousema.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Justin Bousema Memorial Fund to be used to help families with a long term illness or need.
