| | | Hawarden, IA – Ione Anderson, 81, of Rock Rapids, IA, formerly of Hawarden died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Lyon Manor, Rock Rapids. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, United Methodist Church, Hawarden. Visitation with the family will be 6:30 – 8 p.m., Saturday at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa.
Ione Ellen Powell was born July 18, 1926 to Jesse and Blanche (Ridenour) Powell in Vermillion, SD. Her family moved to Hawarden, IA when Ione was 18 years old. Ione was united in marriage to Carl Roy Anderson on September 5, 1947 in Hawarden. Carl died on October 10, 1988. Ione moved to Rosewood Heights in Rock Rapids, IA in 1995. In 2004 she moved into Lyon Manor in Rock Rapids. Ione enjoyed playing bingo and other activities at the nursing home, watching Lawrence Welk and the Antique Road Show.
Ione is survived by her daughters: Linda (Paul) Ageson of Lester, IA, Merry Peterson of Rock Rapids and Betty (Lowell) Knobloch of Larchwood, IA; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters: Ruth Busby and Wilma (Paul) Jones of Kalispell, MT.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents, Jesse and Blanche Powell; 5 brothers; one sister.
