| | | Fairview, SD: John C. Anderson, 87, of Fairview, SD, died Sunday, November 18, 2007, at the Canton-Inwood Hospital. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home, Hudson, SD. Burial at Eden Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation will be Tuesday with the family present 6:30-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home, Hudson.
John C. Anderson was born September 6, 1920 to Christian and Hazel (Berggren) Anderson in Canton, SD. Their family resided in Fairview where John graduated from Hudson High School in 1938. He spent one year in Peoria, IL where he attended drafting school. John then joined the Civil Service Corp for one year. He spent the rest of his life on the Anderson Family Farm in rural Fairview. John was a lifetime member of the Nation Rifleman Association, a member of the Hudson Gun Club and a member of the South Dakota Bench Rest Association. John moved to Hiawatha Heights Assisted Living at Canton on December 14, 2004.
John is survived by his sister, Carrie Ann Serck of Hudson, SD; nieces and nephews: Connie Serck of Canton, SD, Chris (Beth) Serck, Paul (Julie) Serck, and Bill (Kathy) Serck all of Hudson, Bernadette (Bryan) Peeke of Olatha, KS and Jim (Andrea) Anderson of Los Alamos, NM; 14 great and 8 great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman and his wife Mavis Anderson; brother-in-law, Bernard Serck; nephew, Jack Serck.
