Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel History
The Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, opened its doors on July 1, 1998. The facility, designed to be a funeral home, has been meeting the needs of the people in the surrounding area ever since.
Since its beginning, the main goal of the funeral home has been to help people through the experience of losing a loved one. More than any other funeral home in the area, the Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel has understood that families need caring and guidance prior to the death of a loved one, during the time of the death, and for the months that follow. That is why the Memorial Chapel has developed programs that support these needs.
Because of this dedication to families they serve, the Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel has been awarded the Iowa Funeral Directors’ Award of Excellence for several years. It is a prestigious award received by only a handful of funeral homes throughout the state.
Tim Olson, his wife, Sally, and the staff at the Memorial Chapel continually strive to offer the best services and programs available. On going programs and services offered include:

*New Life (a social group for widows)
*Children’s Education Seminar
*Coping with the Holidays
*Books donated to local libraries
The Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel steps outside its front door to support various activities in the community. The Chapel has honored local emergency responders, fire, and law enforcement officials, raised money for the World War II monument in Washington, D.C., and continues to register veterans on the WWII National Registry. It continues to be a member of the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce.

| Jerry Powell Funeral Director Jerry and Jacque Powell of Williamsburg, IA, became partners with Tim and Sally Olson in establishing the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in 1998. Their invaluable expertise in every facet of building the facility and the programs within the business along with their vast knowledge of funeral service has allowed Olson-Powell to become a frontrunner in the finest in amenities offered in the funeral industry in the Mt. Pleasant area. After the Olsons purchased the entire business from the Powells in 2005, the two couples remain best of friends. | |||
