The St. Ambrose Development committee wanted to give you a brief update on two events of interest that will be taking place at the parish in the near future. We wanted you to mark your calendar for October 21, the Father Stanton Memorial Scholarship Dinner. This dinner will be held at Lucarelli’s on Abbott Road. The will replace the St. Ambrose Golf Tournament as a fund raiser.

As most of you know, Father Stanton was passionate about his commitment for all parishioners to procure a Catholic education for their children, regardless of their financial situation. With the reality of the schools St. Agatha’s and Holy Family closing, we are anticipating an influx of students. We are also anticipating a greater need for financial aid.

Seating for the diner is limited. The ticket prices will be $40 per person, $75 per couple and a table of ten may be reserved at a cost of $375. The evening is a semi-formal affair. There will be 3 dinner selections to choose from and a complimentary glass of wine will be included. A string quartet will create an atmosphere that will give everyone an opportunity to mingle. A video honoring Father Stanton will be shown. A cash bar will be available. We hope you will help us to honor our dear friend, Father Stanton, and help continue to make the gift of a Catholic education possible for all children who wish to attend St. Ambrose. More information on the sale of dinner tickets will be coming in the late summer.

The other event that we would like to remind you about is the 5th annual St. Ambrose Family Picnic on August 14th. There will be many changes in this year’s Picnic. The Picnic will begin with 4:00 Mass in the church. Dinner will be catered by Paul Pellicano. Our tents will be much, much larger. We will have music, dancing and a beer tent. A separate dance for the school children will be held in the school gym. We will also have basket raffles, children’s games and fun, fun, fun.

We would like to ask if you would help the Picnic committee. The cost for the picnic has increased drastically over the last few years. We are hoping that all the seniors would be kind enough to help the Picnic Committee by selling just one book of chances for the Picnic Raffle. The books contain seven tickets that sell for $1 each or the entire book at a cost of $5. more books of tickets can be obtained by contacting St Ambrose Rectory at 822-5962.
