|EVELYN BLANEY RIVERA was born July 30, 1955 in Hollywood, CA. Her spirit entered into eternal rest at her home Friday, February 13, 2009 in Silver City. Evelyn's spirit will always be with us. She was a unique, carefree, spirited and loving person. She Praised the Lord in her own special way.
She loved to sing, dance, play the piano, entertain, take photographs, draw, sew, make crafts, was an avid 49er fan, and was always in the spotlight of family functions. She was not afraid to express herself. She was a great conversationalist and never had a loss for words. She loved plants, nature and animals, especially birds and her pet dog "Richie". She spent most of her time with family, caring for her mother, father, children and grandchildren. She was blessed with many talents. She attended Delta College in Stockton, CA receiving a certificate as a Medical Assistant. She also attended WNMU in Silver City.
Survivors include her patents, Matias and Evelyn Rivera of Silver City; 1 son Randolph Zavala of Stockton, CA; 4 daughters, Evelyn Veronica Rodriguez (VERO) husband Jorge of Silver City, Michele Bautista husband Hector of Stockton, CA, Richele Mendez husband Gabriel of Stockton, CA and Erika Zavala husband Josiah Fierro of Silver City; 2 brothers, Bobby Rivera and wife Margaret of West Covina, CA and Matias Rivera and wife Lisa of Costa Mesa, CA; 2 sisters, Rachel Messer and husband Roy of Alamagordo, Faith Varela and husband Kayo of Silver City; 16 grandchildren, Esperanza, Jorge Jr., and Angelica Rodriguez, Elizabeth and Ismael Godoy, and Emmanuel Bautista, Christina Zavala, Gabriel, Isaiah, Jacob and Destiny Mendez, Cruz and Brianna Fierro, Elexus and Aaliyah Zavala and Raquel Romero and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Anna Fuller and Ruth Rivera, Maternal Grandparents, Ben and Louisa DeHerrera; Paternal Grandparents, Matias Rivera Sr., and Lupe Rivera; uncle, Emilo Rivera and aunt, Virginia Rivera.
Pallbearers include Robert Rivera, Jorge Rodriguez, Daniel Gallardo, Kayo Varela, Robert Fuller, Robert DeHerrera, and Roy Messer. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Rivera and Matias Rivera.
Visitation will begin at 5 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Glad Tidings Church followed by an evening church service beginning at 6 pm. Funeral services will begin at 10 am on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the same church. Concluding services and interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery.
