Mrs. Joyce Baxter Petty, 63, former employee of Central Lime and Cement, died Monday, October 12, 2009 at her residence on Greens Mill Road.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Donald Dark officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.
The Lawrence County native was the daughter of the late Lloyd E. Baxter, Sr. and Jennie Lou Love Baxter. She was a 1964 graduate of Spring Hill High School. On July 3, 1964 she married Glenn Petty of Spring Hill who survives her. Mrs. Petty was a member of Tusculum Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Kristy (Ron) LaDuke of Murfreesboro; son, Tommy (Cyndi) Petty of Columbia; four grandchildren, Brandi Petty, Heath Petty, Avery LaDuke and Rebecca LaDuke; one sister, Mrs. Nancy (Harold) Skidmore of Guntersville, Alabama; two brothers, Lloyd E. (Kay) Baxter, Jr. of Santa Fe, David “Beefy” (Debbie) Baxter of Spring Hill; brother-in-law, Dean Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Baxter Buchanan.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Baxter, III, Heath Petty, Brett Bohannon, Dru Smith, Kevin Skidmore and Brent Skidmore.
