James Benjamin “Benny” Bryant, Sr., 73, retired from Iron Workers Local 492 and former resident of Highland Avenue, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Hickman Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12noon Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Maury County native was the son of the late John Hardin Bryant and Katherine Berry Bryant. He attended Maury County Schools. In 1958 he married Hazel Rebecca McGill Bryant who preceded him in death November 11, 1993. He attended the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, James Benjamin “Jimmy” (Deanna) Bryant, Jr. of Columbia; two sisters, Martha Snedegar and Imogene Holt both of Columbia; three grandchildren, Ashlee Bryant, Colton Bryant, Taylor Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
