Charles Alden Wilcox was born on February 1, 1910, at Woolstock, Iowa to Charles Edward and Eva Ida Malaise Wilcox. He received his education in a country school near Woolstock. After his schooling, Alden lived in Elmore, Minnesota for a time. Alden was married to Hannah Bosma on August 24, 1934, at Lakota, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Lakota area until 1974, when they retired and moved into Lakota. After his retirement, Alden worked in the low rent apartments in Bancroft, Iowa for over 10 years. Aldens’s wife, Hannah preceded him in death on November 21, 1994.
Alden was a member of the Community Chapel in Lakota. He enjoyed putting things together, gardening and taking care of his lawn. He also enjoyed making items out of wooden clothespins. His greatest love in life, however, was being with his family and enjoying his grandchildren.
Alden died on Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at the United Hospital in Blue Earth, Minnesota. He was 93.
Alden is survived by his children, Alfred Wilcox and wife, Evelyn, Goodman, Missouri, Edna Joel and husband, James, Lakota, Iowa, Geneva Wilcox, Lakota, Iowa and Roger Wilcox and wife, Elaine, Hampton, Iowa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, one brother, Raymond Wilcox and wife, Irene, Humboldt, Iowa, one sister, Frances Knight, Goldfield, Iowa and his brother-in-law, Lester Hansell, Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
Alden was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Hannah, two sisters, Hildred Eichorn and Rose Hansell, one brother, Edward Wilcox, his grandson, Danny Joel and his great granddaughter, Mandy Torres.
