Maurice J. Ruddy, son of John A. “Jack” and Eileen (Reagan) Ruddy, was born February 20, 1940. He attended St. Ellen’s and Emmetsburg Catholic Schools. After high school, Maurice was employed at Ted’s Grocery Store and also did construction work and helped a local surveyor in the area. He later went to work for Lehmann’s Dairy, where he was employed for many years.
Maurice was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. He was very devoted in caring for his mother and father and was his mother’s major caretaker for the last ten years of her life.
Maurice was an avid Twins baseball fan and loved watching their games.
Maurice passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 72. He was preceded by his parents; sisters, Cleo Ann Ruddy and Mary McEvoy; brothers, Jack Rudy and Bill Ruddy; brother-in-law, David McEvoy; and great nephew, Ryan McEvoy.
He is survived by four brothers, Jerry Ruddy and his wife, Joann of Pocahontas, Iowa, Vic Ruddy and his wife, Karen of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Eddie Ruddy and his wife, Ann of Ottumwa, Iowa and Pat Ruddy and his special friend, Bonnie of Ottumwa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Joan Ruddy of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Maurice lived his life in such a way that those who knew him, but didn’t know God,
came to know God because they knew him.
