Terrance William “Ike” Fogarty, son of William and Lorena (Neary) Fogarty, was born May 31, 1930, in Rodman, Iowa. Ike received his education in Rodman, graduating from Rodman High School in 1948. Ike served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

In 1954, Ike was united in marriage to Bridget Eileen Weir of Algona, Iowa. To this union seven children were born.

Ike worked as a mechanic at John Deere, before beginning his own business, Fogarty Grocery and Repair in 1974. He and Bridget owned and operated Fogarty’s, with Ike running the tank wagon as well, until his ten year battle with Alzheimers disease forced him to quit.

Ike was a long time member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg and V.F.W. Post #2295. He served as a volunteer fireman for many years and was recognized for his excellence as an Iowa High School sports official. He was recognized for officiating sporting events for thirty five years. In his spare time, Ike enjoyed hunting night crawlers, playing horse shoes, playing cards and board games with his family and he was always an avid sports fan.

Ike passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Danie and Keyron Fogarty; and twin sisters, Mary Ellnor Fogarty, in infancy and Mary Edris Lausterer and Joan Fox.

He is survived by his wife of fifty eight years, Bridget of Emmetsburg, Iowa; his children, Mike (Carol) of Emmetsburg, Iowa, John (Holly) of Spencer, Iowa, Tom of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Julie “Jill” Hanson (Kevin) of Graettinger, Iowa, Jim (Christina) of Phoenix, Arizona, Bill of Wichita, Kansas, Joe (Tina) of Chicago, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Rosella Rosacker; and a brother, Martin Fogarty; as well as many other relatives and friends.
