Harvey Frank Wolff, son of Herman and Minnie (Bahl) Wolff, was born July 7, 1922, on a farm in Great Oak Township, Palo Alto County, Iowa. He graduated from Gillett Grove High School in 1942.

On July 12, 1960, Harvey was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Schultz in Jackson, Minnesota. To this union seven children were born.

Following high school Harvey worked for Mickey Dailey, near Ayrshire, doing farm work. He was then employed by the Ayrshire and West Bend Elevators. Harvey also farmed for the Schmidt brothers, near Mallard, before his retirement.

Harvey was an avid gardener and enjoyed the many hours he spent in his vegetable gardens. He also loved playing cards, especially Euchre and Rummy, with his family and friends. After retiring, Harvey and Shirley enjoyed going to BINGO and to coffee to visit with their friends. A cherished memory will be all of the weekend fishing trips that Harvey took with his children.

As Harvey’s health failed, he moved to Baxter, Iowa to be near his son, Troy’s family. He made his home at the Baxter Health Care Center. Troy’s wife Heather spent countless hours sharing her love and care with Harvey in his final years. His family will always be grateful to Heather for her generous compassion to her father-in-law.

Harvey passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; a daughter, Barbara Rhea; three sisters, Inez, Irene and Pearl; and four brothers, Carl, Arlo, Leonard and Earl.
He is survived by his children, Shannon Nissen of Laurens, Iowa, Jerry Wolff and his wife, Carol of Ruthven, Iowa, Harvey Wolff, Jr. and his wife, Tammi of Emmetsburg, Iowa, John Wolff and his wife, Pam of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Jim Wolff and his wife, Kathryn of Polk City, Iowa, and Troy Wolff and his wife, Heather of Baxter, Iowa; twenty three grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Velda Wolff of Newton, Iowa; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
