John Baptist Molitor, son of Charles, Sr. and Anna (Clemens) Molitor, was born February 18, 1923, near Remsen, Iowa. He attended Catholic School in Ashton, Iowa, completing 8th grade. John then began farming, near Ashton, with his family. John later completed his education and received his G.E.D. from Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg.

On June 2, 1948, John was united in marriage to Eileen Mary Kenyon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mallard, Iowa. To this union nine children were born.

John farmed in the area his entire life. He raised cattle, chickens, and hogs, along with dairy and grain farming. John was a crop insurance adjuster in the area for many years. He also did property and casualty adjusting when the tornado went through Arnolds Park.
John was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven. He and Eileen loved square dancing and playing 500 with their card club. When John went to visit his family he always looked forward to some games of Pinochle and Pitch. He also enjoyed meeting his coffee group at Lakeland and visiting with them.
