Sharon Kay Roland, daughter of Kenneth and Lois Atkinson, was born May 26, 1941 in Rolfe, Iowa.
On December 12, 1959 Sharon was united in marriage to LaDean W. Roland at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. To this union two children were born.
Sharon was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was also employed at the Spencer Hotel as a waitress. Sharon loved being with her family, and especially enjoyed fishing with LaDean. They also enjoyed putting puzzles together. She loved to listen to music and liked the songs of the 50’s and 60’s. Sharon’s favorite baseball team was the Chicago Cubs and she was an avid fan.
Sharon passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, LaDean on May 14, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Tamara Kay Kyte and her husband, Donald of Spencer, IA and Danny Wesley Roland of Boone, IA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Kyte, Elizabeth Kyte, Sarah Herman, Steven Herman, Christy Barberena; two great grandchildren, Hailey Barberena and Elijah Barberena; three sisters, Karen Mitchell and her husband, Don of Armstrong, IA, Janet Beargeon and her husband, Peter of Sioux City, IA and Amy Atkinson of California; as well as many other relatives and friends.
