Agnes Ina Weishaar, daughter of Albert and Margaret (Kyne) Kenyon, was born July 9, 1913 in St. Michael, Nebraska. Ina’s family later moved to Turin before settling near Ayrshire. Ina graduated from Ayrshire High School. Following graduation, Ina attended Iowa State Teachers College where she received her teaching degree.
On June 23, 1945 Ina was united in marriage to Leonard Weishaar in Mallard, Iowa. To this union five children were born. Ina taught country school for a few years before going to teach at South Clay Community School.
Ina was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a 4-H leader and a member of Great Oak Township Homemakers for many years.
Ina and Leonard enjoyed square dancing as well as ballroom dancing. She loved playing bridge and was a member of the Ayrshire Bridge Club. Ina also played bridge in the Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary card marathon.
Ina loved being with her family. She was very proud of her children’s musical talents. Ina also had great pride in watching her grandchildren as they played outside at the farm. She will be remembered by her great grandchildren as “Farm Grandma”. She was very proud of that and it always drew a smile when they called her that.
Ina passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2009 at the Palo Alto County Hospital at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Leo; her husband, Leonard; two sisters, Erma Kenyon and Eileen Molitor; two brothers, Ed and Lyle Kenyon; as well as other family members.
