Donald Michael Brown was born July 20, 1941 in Ayrshire, Iowa to Mabel Iverson Brown and Matt Brown. Don grew up in Emmetsburg, Iowa and attended Emmetsburg Catholic Schools. He graduated from Emmetsburg Catholic High School in 1959. Don received a degree in Business Administration from Rockhurst College in 1963.
Donald married Mary A. Currans on September 10, 1966 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger, Iowa They were married for forty years. Don was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Gladstone, Missouri.
Donald was employed by the Social Security Administration for thirty five years. He served as a Claims Representative in Creston, Iowa and Spencer, Iowa. Don returned to Kansas City in 1981 to the Kansas City Payment Center as a Disability Review Specialist. He was a Decision Writer for the Office of Hearing and Appeals when he retired in 1998.
Don’s love of Rock n Roll music was fostered by having seen Buddy Holly perform live at the Winter Dance Party two nights before his plane crashed after leaving Clear Lake, Iowa. Don had many interests. He was an avid reader and enjoyed pheasant hunting. Don was a master at Trivial Pursuit.
Donald Michael Brown died December 17, 2006 at his home in Gladstone, Missouri at the age of 65. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Matt Brown; brothers, Dan, Jay and Joe Brown; sisters, Madeline Goodmanson and Mary Ann Linhart.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Gladstone, MO and his brother, Rev. Robert Brown, Pastor of St. Louis Parish in Royal, IA and by many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
