Norman Andrew Anderson, son of August and Lena (Miller) Anderson, was born July 14, 1912 near Cylinder, Iowa. He received his education in rural country schools and Curlew High School. Norman’s family lived on a farm near Cylinder and when he was a young boy they moved to a farm north of Curlew.
On March 11, 1940 Norman was married to Lela M. Reeves in Spencer, Iowa. They farmed southeast of Ayrshire retiring in November 1975. Norman and Lela then moved to Emmetsburg. Norman was an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
Norman enjoyed working with wood making various things. He did carpentry work in his younger years and was also a mechanic at the Ford garage in Emmetsburg and Laurens.
Norman died Monday, August 22, 2005 at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step mother, Hazel; his wife, Lela in 2003; brother, Lloyd; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his son, Calvin and his wife, Sally of Baxter, IA; his daughter, Sheila Tyner of Pompano Beach, FL; three granddaughters, Sloane Palmer of Florida, Robyn Anderson and Renae Anderson of Baxter, IA; two great grandchildren, Paige and Jade; a sister, Beulah Pingel and her husband, LeRoy of Paullina, IA; sister-in-law, Lucille Anderson of Curlew, IA; nephew, Garwin Anderson of Curlew, IA; niece, Connie Yonker of Jackson, MN; several cousins; as well as many other relatives and friends.
