Lucille Mary Allen, daughter of James and Laura (Hardinger) Manwarren, was born September 15, 1922 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She received her education in the Emmetsburg schools and graduated from Emmetsburg High School.

On February 20, 1943 Lucille was united in marriage to Dayton Victor Allen in Nebraska City, Nebraska. To this union two daughters were born.

Lucille was employed at Mileham’s Hatchery and later went to work for Berkeley’s in Emmetsburg where she was employed for many years until it closed. Lucille then became a nurse’s aid and did Home Health Care for the Palo Alto County Hospital until her health forced her to quit. Lucille loved caring for others and helped many individuals throughout Emmetsburg.

Lucille was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and Church Circle. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to trips to the lakes where she liked to go fishing. Lucille was also a volunteer at Lakeside Lutheran Home for many years.

Lucille died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dayton; a daughter, Pam O’Brien; son-in-law, William O’Brien; three brothers, Robert Manwarren, Eugene Manwarren and Frank Manwarren; and a sister, Loretta Poland.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Girres and her husband, Richard of West Bend, IA; her grandchildren, Bob O’Brien and his wife, Nancy of Carroll, IA, Pat O’Brien and his wife, Sharon of Spirit Lake, IA, Kay Thayer and her husband, T.J. of Emmetsburg, IA, Ann Boysen and her husband, Chad of Pocahontas, IA, Jon Girres and his wife, Melissa of Ottosen, IA and Nicholas Girres of West Bend, IA; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Manwarren and his wife, Nettie of Emmetsburg, IA, and John Manwarren and his wife, June of Emmetsburg, IA; four sisters, Evelyn Moran of Emmetsburg, IA, Marie Stouil of West Bend, IA, Virginia Steil and her husband, Don of Fairbanks, IA, and Joanne Nichols of Emmetsburg, IA; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
