Miriam Ingeborg Erickson Burg, daughter of Erick A. and Karolina (Anderson) Erickson, was born September 2, 1913 in Ruthven, Iowa. She received her education in Ruthven graduating in 1931.
On February 15, 1932 Miriam was united in marriage to Kerry LaFayette Burg in Canton, South Dakota. To this union two daughters were born.
Miriam was a devoted farm wife and mother. She helped on the farm where she raised Mallard ducks and pheasants. She always had a large garden and enjoyed her flowers. She did a lot of sewing and had made many quilt tops for Zion Ladies Aid. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years serving as Sunday School teacher, deacon as well as holding various offices in church organizations. She served as a 4-H leader and had volunteered at Lakeside Lutheran Home. Miriam was also a member of Farm Bureau.
Miriam died Friday, February 29, 2008 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, K.L. Burg; a daughter, Elaine Cooke; and a sister, Helen Riecke.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Fitzloff and her husband, Pete of Powell, WY; four grandchildren, Jo Hamlin and her husband, Ralph of Mesa, AZ, Jeri Rouse of Santa Rosa, CA, Dan Fitzloff and his wife, Marie of Rock Springs, WY and Holly Moen and her husband, Allen of Cody, WY; four great grandchildren who all reside in Wyoming; two sisters, Evelyn Hanson and her husband, Etts of Tucson, AZ and Lucille Goff of Montrose, CO; several nephews and nieces; as well as many other relatives and friends.
