Lois Cress Knudsen, daughter of Raymond and Marcella (Foy) Goddard, was born April 26, 1926 in Emmetsburg. As a young girl Lois and her family moved to Ruthven where she attended school graduating from Ruthven High School in 1946.
On April 5, 1951 Lois was united in marriage to Dean “Froggie” Cress in Ruthven, Iowa. Lois was employed at Wigdahl Hardware and the Ruthven State Bank for many years. She also worked at the Martin Funeral Home in Ruthven.
After Dean’s death in 1984, Lois was married to Russell Knudsen in Ruthven, Iowa. Lois and Russell enjoyed their winters in Texas. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Lois always looked forward to a game of golf or being able to visit with friends.
Lois was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Ladies Guild in Ruthven. She was also a member of the Ruthven American Legion Auxiliary.
Lois died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Ruthven Community Care Center at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean; her husband, Russell; a sister, Jean Mattheis; three brothers, William Goddard, Joseph Goddard and Robert Goddard.
She is survived by her step children, Larry Knudsen and his wife, Marlene of Dickens, IA, Richard Knudsen and his wife, Judy of Dickens, IA, Linda Mykietyn and her husband, Jerome of Wayne, NJ and Paul Knudsen and his wife, Natalie of Mankato, MN; ten step grandchildren; many step great grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Goddard and his wife, Ann of Waterloo, IA and James Goddard of Portland, OR; nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
