| | | Mary June (Williams) Ramey age 74 passed away Sunday Afternoon, June 28, 2009 at the Franklin United Methodist Community Health Care Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Brown County. Mary was the daughter of Loretta Marie (Holley) and Warren Hargus Williams who both have preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by a brother: Earl Williams and a sister: Lola Faye Young.
Mary is survived by her husband of 54 years, Elmer Ramey of Brown County; two daughters: Lynn Jewell of Franklin and Barbara, her husband Scott Grimes of Murfreesboro, TN; a son: Bill, and his wife Susan Ramey of Cloverdale; three grandsons: Erik Atwood of Franklin, Zach and Austin Grimes both of Murfreesboro, TN; and two granddaughters: Eryn Atwood of Franklin and Hannah Ramey of Cloverdale; one great-granddaughter: Olivia Atwood of Franklin and one great-grandson: Caleb Tuttle of Indianapolis.
She is also survived by three brothers: Jimmy (Mary) Williams of Indianapolis, Johnny (JoAnn) Williams of Trafalgar and David (Money) Williams of Lovington, IL; as well as two sisters; Pauline Dalton of Elkhart and Leta Williams of Trafalgar along with several nieces and nephews.
Also are several brothers and sisters-in-law: Harold (deceased) and Letha Ramey of Nineveh, Betty Newman of Franklin, Bill and Jean Ramey (both deceased), Joe (Joann) Ramey of Nineveh, Emily (Jimmy) Wood of Whiteland, Martha and Millard Hedger (both deceased), David Ramey (deceased), Johnny (Alpha) Ramey of Franklin, Sara (D.I.) Bills of Edinburgh and roughly sixty-one nieces & nephews and many loving cousins too numerous to mention.
Mary was a loving housewife and mother. She co-owned, operated and drove a dump truck for Ramey Trucking which she and her husband operated from 1966 to 1983. Mary and Elmer had built their dream up on their hill south of Princes Lakes and lived in it for the past 32 years.
Mary was a 1953 graduate of Trafalgar High School. She was a member of the Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Peoga and attended the Trafalgar United Methodist Church. Mary was a member of the Nineveh Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #466 and participated in several women’s and senior bowling leagues in Franklin.
She enjoyed doing genealogy, working on the internet and reading novels. Mary loved tending to her flowers, feeding the hummingbirds and family reunions. She was a fan of NASCAR with Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver and was famous for her chicken & dumplings.
Mary’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of St. Francis Greenwood, Franklin United Methodist Community and Johnson Memorial Hospital, where she spent so much of the past year, for making her struggle so much easier. You all were a blessing to us for letting us know she was in good hands. Thank you to our friends and neighbors for helping take care of everything at home.
The Rev. Doug Bohall will conduct a funeral service 10:30 am Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 3 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.
