Evelyn C. (Muterspaw) Chittum, age 81 passed away Saturday May 12, 2007 at Green County General in Linton. She was a resident of Jasonville and a former resident of Johnson County.

Born October 30, 1925 in Rockbridge Co., VA, she was the daughter of the late John and Nettie Muterspaw. She married the Rev. Arthur G. Chittum on December 23, 1944 in Lexington, VA. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1981.

She was a loving mother and a dedicated preachers wife.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters: Betty L. Thomas of Winston Salem, NC, and Nona R. Denny of Franklin; two sons: John M. (Shirley) Chittum and Ridgely A. (Joyce) Chittum both of Clay City; two sisters: Lillian Nicely of Ft. Myers, FL, and Gwen Moore of Lexington, VA; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

She was a member of the Bean Blossom Baptist Church in Brown County. She enjoyed doing arts & crafts, reading her Bible and spending time with her family. Evelyn was an avid writer and kept all of her lifes experiences in her journal.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.

The Rev. James Brown will conduct a funeral service 1:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
