| | | Robert A. Banko, 77, Columbus, died Jan. 6, 2007, at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.
Born Oct. 8, 1929, in Scranton, Pa., he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Schuster) Banko.
He married R. Joann (Mitchell) Banko in October 1957 in Trafalgar. She died May 21, 2003.
He retired in 1991 as a news anchor for WIBA radio in Madison, Wisc.
He was a 1947 graduate of Scranton High School and attended the University of Scranton.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1946 to 1951 as an aviation electrician. He also was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as a sergeant with the 2466th Air Reserve Continental Air Command from 1951 to 1955.
He was a Catholic.
He enjoyed photography and his pet dogs and cats. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the University of Wisconsin football team.
Survivors include two sisters, Delores Banko of Clarks Summit, Pa., and Arlene McGuire of Scranton, Pa.
The service was 11 a.m. today at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th St. in Columbus. The Rev. Clement T. Davis officiated.
Burial was at First Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.

Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation and Personalization Center in Morgantown was in charge of arrangements.
