Marion L. Beaver
Marion L. Beaver, 80, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Morgantown Healthcare Inn in Morgantown. He was a resident of Morgantown.
He was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Duncanville, Ill., to the late Ernest L. and Sarah (Simpson) Beaver. He married Anna (Collins) Beaver on June 3, 1946, in Norfolk, Va. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Marion “Mike” Beaver of Ashville, N.C.; a daughter, Linda Brown of Fruitdale; six grandchildren, Glenda Jo Fox of Gosport, William Brown of Freedom, Deanna Marie Hardwick of Trafalgar, Mike Reasnor of Oklahoma, Tony Reasnor of Texas and Nichole Skirvin of Westport; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Beaver of Midwest City, Okla.; two sisters, Margaret Norman of Martinsville and Sara Barnes of Cloverdale; and his extended family, Darlene Adams of Morgantown, Mark Adams of Martinsville, Mike Adams of Nashville and Emily, Christopher and Michaela Adams. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Bradley; three brothers, Bob, Eugene and Charles Beaver; and one granddaughter.
He was a mechanic and owned several service stations, including Standard, Sunoco and Mobil in Morgantown since the early 1950s, retiring in November 2004 due to ill health.
He was a machinist’s mate second-class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion in Nashville.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
The Rev. Myron Young will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville with graveside military honors presented by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars honor guard.
