William F. "Bill" Brown, 86, Grand Junction, Colo. died April 16, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.

He was born July 26, 1918, in Morgan County. He married Katherine L. Smyth on July 3, 1941, in Morgantown. She preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2004.

Brown retired from Funk Seeds International of Bloomington, Ill. in 1983, after 27 years. He was a district manager and sales trainer.

He graduated from Eaton High School in Eaton and Purdue University in 1942 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture.

He was a U.S. Army Corps veteran, having served in WW II.

He was formerly a resident of Rockville and Morgantown.

Survivors include daughters, Phyllis A. Alspach, Pagosa Springs, Colo.; Carol J. Kemper of Palisade, Colo. and Wanda Riggs, San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Mary Ellen Dick, West Lafayette and Ruth Ann Shake, Greensburg; brother, James Y. Brown, Pueblo, Colo.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Morgantown United Methodist Church, 20 E. Washington Street. A luncheon will follow at the church. Rev. Cheryl Garbe will officiate.

Inurment was at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Purdue Foundation College of Agriculture Scholarships, 403 W. Wood St., West Lafayette IN 47907.
