Delbert E. “Bud” Brown, 82, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Indiana Heart Hospital. He was a resident of Trafalgar.

He was born June 8, 1922, in Brown County. His parents were Charles and Lottie (Hawkins) Brown. He married Betty D. (Walker) Brown on June 28, 1952, in Bedford. She preceded him in death March 19, 2001. Survivors include a sister, Edythe Roberts of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight nieces, Almetia Compton, Lourenna Richie, Janie Turner, Ann Fowler, Connie Leffler, Barbara Skinner, Rachel Oyer and Susan Hundley; and five nephews, Pat Mathis, Bob Cookson, Jack Cookson, Harvey Hendershot and Jack Bowden. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Brown; five sisters, Lela Cookson, Juanita Rains, Lena Bowden, Charlene Smith and Louesa Hendershot; and several nieces and nephews.

He was employed by Arvin in Franklin from 1940 to 1950. He was a self-employed carpenter and mason from 1950 to 1965. He worked with Kenny Demaree doing masonry and remodeling construction from 1965 until his retirement in 1987.

He was a member of Trafalgar American Legion.

He enjoyed working in his yard, going to tractor pulls, traveling, listening to country music and watching and feeding hummingbirds.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a truck driver for the 458th Engineer Depot Company.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Friday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Martinsville Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Honor Guards will conduct military graveside rites at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
