Donald E. Burnette, age 72 passed away Sunday evening, November 16, 2008 at his home in Morgantown.

He was born February 22, 1936, in Indianapolis to the late Carlie C. and Mildred O. (Lee) Burnette. He married his loving wife of thirty-one years Easley I. “Penny” (Presley – Johnson) Burnette on October 27, 1977 in Indianapolis. She survives.

Other survivors include one son: Nathan A. (Angela) Burnette of Martinsville; three grandchildren: Jerica Holle, Makayla JoAnn & Martha Irene Burnette all of Martinsville; two brothers: Kenneth Burnette of Alexandria, Louisana & Ronald Burnette of Greenwood; one sister: Evelyn Cummins of Lawrence

Don was preceded in death by two sisters: Thelma Elmore & Sharon Mayo.

He served with the United States Airforce during the Far East Conflict as a 2nd Class Airman from 1955 to 1959.

Don retired in 1996 from RCA in Indianapolis as an Automatic Set-up man and former Chief Shop Stewart after fourty-two years of service.

He was a past member of the Calvary Tabernacle Church in Indianapolis and a member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge #135 and the American Legion. Don was an avid fan of country & bluegrass music and enjoyed playing his guitar & singing. He also enjoyed raising & riding horses, watching television and a supporter of the Indianapolis Colts. He was known for his cooking and baking and love for grandchildren.

The Rev. Nick Seniour II will conduct a funeral service 10 am Thursday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. The Nashville Masonic Lodge #135 will conduct a Masonic Service at 7:30 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville with military graveside rites presented by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Donald to the Riley Hospital for Children, 702 Barnhill Drive Indianapolis, IN 46202.
