Harry E. Burge Sr., age 82 passed away Tuesday evening, July 1, 2008 at his residence in Nineveh.

He was born February 8, 1926, in Indianapolis, to the late James and Flora Burge. He married his loving wife of 52 years Jean M. (Wright) Burge in February of 1956 in Indianapolis. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter: Pamela D. (Mark) Nelson of Nineveh; three sons: Harry E. Burge Jr. of Edinburgh, Larry Burge of Trafalgar and Frank J. Burge of Nineveh; 10 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers & two sisters.

He was a 1944 graduate of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.

Harry served his county as a Seaman Second Class with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 during WWII.

He retired in 1964 as a Carpet Installer with Hertz Carpet Service in Columbus after 22 years of service. After retirement he worked in Sales for Piston Service in Indianapolis for 16 years.

He loved to spend time with his family and frineds. Harry enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and mushroom hunting. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and NASCAR with his favorite driver being Jimmie Johnson.

The Rev. Ben Swopes will conduct a funeral service noon Saturday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 am till service time on Saturday. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery in Nineveh.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards.
