Susan “Susie” (Weaver) Baird, age 78 passed away Friday evening, February 15, 2008 at Morgan Hospital & Medical Center in Martinsville. She was a resident of Morgantown.
She was born March 28, 1929, in Indianapolis, to the late Glen O. and Edna Mae (Peats) Weaver. She married Alfred R. (Bud) Baird on September 19, 1942 in Jeffersonville. He preceded her in death after 65 loving years on January 26, 2008.
Survivors include two sons: Michael C. (Karen) Baird & Malcolm C. “Buz” Baird both of Morgantown; two daughters: Kitty Leigh (Teddy) Sichting of Morgantown & Tamara Marlene (Fred) Wampler of Bloomington; eleven grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Susie was the owner and operator of Susie´s Pin & Curl in Morgantown from 1958 to 2001 where she worked as a Cosmetologist. She also helped her husband with their restaurant The Silver Stallion in Morgantown which they owned from 1975 to 1985. They also owned Baird´s Furniture Store in Morgantown for four years.
She was a member of the Morgantown Chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority.
Susie enjoyed raising Arabian Horses, crocheting, needlepoint, crafts and oil painting.
There will be no funeral services for Susie.
