| | | Dorothy D. Carty, 87, of Champion, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in the emergency room of Forum Health – Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born May 21, 1922 in Niles, the daughter of Roy and Cora (Phillips) Daley, and had lived in Trumbull County all her life.
A graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Mrs. Carty attended Youngstown Business College. She worked 36 years in the payroll department at Packard Electric, retiring in 1980. She had taught Sunday School at First United Methodist Church in Niles and Champion Presbyterian Church, and had served as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, reading, travel, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Richard E. Carty, whom she married November 23, 1943; a daughter, Cathy J. Carty of Champion; and two sisters, Beatrice Miller and Joan Garvin, both of Niles. Preceding her in death are her parents and two sisters, Eileen Petersilge and Nyla Steele.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. William Sprague officiating. Interment will follow at Champion Township Cemetery. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
