| Irene Bays Hood Allen, 90, of Amma went home to be with the Lord on Monday August 1, 2011.
She graduated from Charleston High School and Charleston School of Commerce and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clendenin and former 25 year member of Highlawn Baptist Church of St. Albans. Mrs. Allen was retired from Union Carbide with 25 year’s service, 3 years at Charleston National Bank, and served as the relief Post Master at Amma. She was the past High Priestess of Charleston Shrine # 7, Order of the White Star, past Royal Matron of Kanawha Court #9, Order of Amaranth, Charleston, Member of Benu Ra Court #77, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Charleston, Daughter of the Niles, Wheeling, American Business Women’s Association, past secretary of Thelma Chapter 24, Order of the Eastern Star, Clendenin and former member of St. Albans Chapter 79, and active member of Clendenin Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband George Allen; brothers, Stanley and Raymond Bays; special friend Leonard Lee. She is survived by her sons Robert Hood Sr. and William Hood Jr.; several grandchildren and special friend Barbara Mangus. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday August 3 with Thelma Chapter 24 Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday August 4, with Pastor Gary Walker officiating at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin. Interment will be at Highlawn Memorial Park Oak Hill, WV. | ||
