Obituary Notice
Joseph R. Pagano
Joseph R. "Joe" Pagano, age 81, of Jefferson Street, Westfield, died enexpectedly Thursday, July 21, 2005 at home.
He was born January 16, 1924 in Dunkirk, New York the son of the late Marion and Josephine (Alongi) Pagano.
A Westfield area resident since 1946, he was a graduate of Dunkirk Industrial School, class of 1942, and entered the US Army in 1943 serving with the 256th Field Artillery Battalion attaining the rank of Corporal serving in Central Europe, Northern France and Rhineland.
He returned home in 1946 and worked for several area plumbers including, WJ Martin, Tony Morrell, and Ralph Hyde before opening his own business, Pagano Plumbing. He was a Member of St. James Major Roman Catholic Church, an a honorary life member and 3rd degree Knight of the Fr. Daniel Early Council 3100 Knights of Columbus. He was Village of Westfield Trustee for 4 years and was Mayor of Westfield for 6 years. He had also served on the Westfield Planning Board. He was a Charter Member and three time President of The Kiwanis Club of Westfeild and was President when the first Key Club was established at Westfield Academy and Central School. He was a recipient of the Kiwanis Hixon Fellow award. Joe was a member of the Westfield Fish and Game Club, The Loyal Order of Moose #118, the Wm. P Jackway VFW Post 6764 and the John W. Rogers American Legion Post 327 all of Westfield.
He enjoyed Trap Shooting and playing cards and poker. He was a devoted family man who loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law
Joel A. Pagano & Mary Beth of Westfield, NY, his three grandsons Alan Pagano of Aspen, CO, Matt Pagano of Denver, CO, and St. Sgt. Vincent Pagano, USAF of Phoenix, AZ, his great grandson Joseph "Joey" Pagano of Denver, CO. Joe is also survived by his two brothers, Marion Pagano of Buffalo, NY, and Anthony Pagano of Hudson, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances (Riscili) Pagano who died on April 23, 2000, his son, Michael A. Pagano, who died in 1986, and by his father, Marion Pagano, and his mother, Josephine (Alongi) Pagano.
Visitation will be at MASON Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 PM until 7 PM
Funeral services will be held privately at MASON Funeral Home. Fr. Daniel Young of St. James Major RC Church will be officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Westfield.
