| Albany-Sister Dolores M. Carey, RSM, (Mary Benedicta), died Tuesday August 5, 2003 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. A Sister of Mercy for almost 62 years, Sister spent most of years of ministry in education. Her teaching assignments included Vincentian and Blessed Sacrament Schools in Albany, as well as St. Patrick's in Cohoes, Johnstown and Ravena. From 1981 to 1989 she worked as Secretary at LaSalle School and Arbor House in Albany.
The daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Carey, Sister Dolores is survived by her nieces, Barbara Novko, of Oneonta, Ann Carey, of Albany and her nephews, Arthur and John Hutson and Francis and Michael Carey all of Albany. She is also survived by several grand-nieces and nephews. Viewing hours will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday August 7, 2003 in the Convent of Mercy Chapel 634 New Scotland Avenue Albany. Relatives and friends are welcome and invited to attend a prayer service of remembrance in the Chapel at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 8, 2003 in the Chapel. Interment services will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. The Sisters of Mercy wish to thank the staff at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for the compassionate care given to Sister during her short stay at the facility.
