| | | DEMPSEY LOUIS PRINES, age 88 years, a former resident of Elkins, WV and more recently a resident of Mansfield Place at Philippi, WV departed this life Thursday morning, October 29, 2009 at Mansfield Place.
He was born Wednesday, July 13, 1921 at Mill Creek, a son of the late Lloyd Burton Prines and Matilda Currence Prines. He had never married.
Surviving him are two nephews; Emory O’Dell Prines and wife, Carolyn, Baltimore, MD and Roy Wamsley and wife, Ann, Dailey, three nieces; Creta Virginia Ball, Elkins, Bessie Lowman and husband, Norman, Mill Creek, and Rebecca Madary, Carolina, WV.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by four brothers; Salvines, Clifford, George, and Thomas Prines, and two sisters; Lyda Woods and Virginia Wamsley.
He attended the schools at Mill Creek, had served during World War II with the United States Army, and after many years of service, he retired from the Monarch Rubber Company at Baltimore, MD. He enjoyed watching westerns and was an animal lover.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on from 6 until 8 PM, Tuesday. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 1PM. Interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
