| | | MARDEAN LEE BOYLES BARB, age 88 years a resident of Parsons, WV., departed this life Monday evening, January 22, 2007 at her home. She had been in declining health.
She was born Wednesday, February 6, 1918 at Belington, WV., the daughter of the late Reuben Boyles and Madge Poling Boyles. On December 21, 1942 at Washington, D.C., she was married to Sgt. Charles Franklin Barb, son of Frank and Bessie Barb of Parsons., He preceded her in death February, 12, 1978.
Surviving are two daughters; Beverly J. Mullenax and Dorothy L. Murphy and husband Roger of Parsons, one sister; Betty Monroe and husband Jim of Mitchelville, Md., seven grandchildren; Ronald A. Mullenax and wife Judy, Randall L. Mullenax and wife Lori, Donna Jean Roy and Robert Chad Mullenax and wife Amy, Rebecca L. Moore and husband Robert, David Franklin Murphy and wife Stephanie and Angela Lee Davis and husband Chris, and thirteen great grandchildren; Hannah and Isaac Moore, Evan, Josie and Cameron Mullenax, Joshua Mullenax, Brady Mullenax, Derek, Kylie and Sydney Moore and Caten, Tucker and McKinley Murphy, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son in law; Denzil A. Mullenax.
She was a graduate of Belington High School with the Class of 1935. Mardean had a very full and active life first working in Washington, D.C. in the Office of Emergency Management and later working at the Tucker County Bank at Parsons until her retirement in May of 1983. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church at Parsons, where she was organist for over fifty years. She was a member of Parsons Chapter #91 Order of the Eastern Star, the Liberty Rebecca Lodge #95, the United Methodist Women and the Women’s Guild. She also served on Board of Directors at the Parsons Senior Center and played piano for years for the Goldenairs. She served on the Board of Directors for the Five Rivers Library for thirteen years. During 2004, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Parsons High School Alumni Hall of Fame. She had several hobbies and enjoyable pastimes including playing golf, bowling, bridge and bingo.
Family and friends will join in the celebration of Mardean’s life on Friday, with visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons. On Saturday, January 27th, 2007, Mrs. Barb will be moved to the First United Methodist Church at which time funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon. The Reverend Jeff Anderson will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery for MARDEAN LEE BOYLES BARB.
