| | | VERBA LUCILLE KNIGHT ADAMS, age 78 years, a resident of Georgetown Road, Dailey, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, December 5, 2006 at the Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Saturday, August 25, 1928 at Weston, a daughter of the late Dencil Knight and Sylbia Corbia Taylor Bragg Knight. On October 23, 1949, she was married to Robert L. Adams, who survives at Dailey. Also surviving her are three sons; Phillip Michael Adams, Reston, VA, Jeff L. Adams and wife, Donna L., Clifton, VA, and Gregory Scott Adams and wife, Lori, Charleston, SC, one daughter; Dr. Paula Sue Adams, Kennesaw, GA, one brother; Carlis Knight and one sister; Syble E. Genevie, both of Sun City, FL, six grandchildren; Sandra, Christi, Cortney, Ashley, Katlyn, and Kasey, and three great grandchildren; Jayden, Lexi, and Brooke.
Verba was a graduate of Weston High School with the class of 1946 and was a homemaker. She was an avid bowler having bowled with the Virginia Queens in northern Virginia, was a member of the Elkins Bowling Leagues for over twenty-five years, having served as the president of the Elkins Women’s Bowling Association for fifteen years, and had attended National Senior Bowling Tournaments in Jacksonville, FL and Las Vegas, NV representing the state of West Virginia.
Her request for cremation was honored. A memorial service will be held in honor at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 2 PM. The Reverend Ronald Nestor will officiate. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to BVL, Elkins USDC, c/o Tina Hinzman, 230 Crystal Springs Road, Elkins, WV 26241.
