| | | MARY ELIZABETH SAINATO ANTOLINI, age 91 years, a former resident of Barron Avenue, Elkins, then for several years at Colonial Place, and more recently a resident of Elkins Regional Convalescent Center departed this life early Sunday morning, November 5, 2006 at the nursing home. She had been in declining health for the past several years.
She was born Friday, September 10, 1915 at Harding, WV a daughter of the late Rocco Sainato and Delia Frances Ashe Sainato. On December 19, 1936, she was married to Dr. Carl J. Antolini, Sr., who preceded her in death June 10, 1985. Surviving are one son Carl John “Sonny” Antolini, Jr. and wife Andrea, Elkins; one daughter, Mary Frances Antolini, Pittsburgh, PA; three brothers, Joseph Sainato and wife Nancy, Youngstown, OH; Nick Sainato and wife Inez, Barberton, OH; Sammy Sainato and wife Rose, Westover, WV, three grandchildren, Carl J. Antolini, III and wife Heather, Parkersburg; Lisa Ann Morris and husband Gene, Summersville; Michael A. Antolini and wife Jo Ann, Knightdale, NC; six great grandchildren, Michael L., Elizabeth, Audrey, Jack and Nicholas Antolini and Allison Morris, and two step great grandchildren, Hannah and Katie Thorpe.
Preceding her in death are four brothers, Frank, Victor, Dominick and Ernest Sainato.
She attended the schools of Harding and was named “Mrs. Elkins of 1957” by the Junior Department of the Woman’s Club of Elkins. She was the first holder of the title of “Mrs. Elkins”. She was a charter member of the Elkins Jayceettes, which were organized in 1949. She held many major offices through the years and had worked on virtually every committee within the organization. She was named “Jayceette of the Year” in 1962-1963 and was the 1974-1975 and 1980-1981 Service Award winner. She also received her “25th Year Anniversary Pin” in 1974. She was also a member of the Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the West Virginia State Dental Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener and was well known for her culinary skills. She was a lifelong member of the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Guild, and the Altar Society of her church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Wednesday. On Wednesday, at 7 PM, at the funeral home, a prayer service will be recited by the Reverend Mr. Ray Godwin. On Thursday, November 9, 2006, Mrs. Antolini will be moved to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. The Reverend Father William Anderson will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter, 1111 Lee Street, East, Charleston, WV 25301 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
