| | | CARRIE RACHEL WEGMAN ARBOGAST, age 80 years, a resident of Gateway Apartments, Elkins, departed this life Monday evening, October 16, 2006 at the Davis Memorial Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born Wednesday, August 18, 1926 at Adolph, WV, a daughter of the late Jacob French Wegman and Monnie Gay Wiseman Wegman. On November 13, 1947, at Oakland, MD, she was married to Arlin “Bube” Arbogast who preceded her in death on August 12, 2002.
Surviving her are five sons, Delmas Johnson and wife, Virginia, Kerens, Allen Arbogast and wife, Janet, Elkins, Gary Arbogast and wife, Debra, Norton, Marvin Arbogast and James Arbogast, both of Elkins, one daughter, Geraldine Robers, Milton, FL, two daughters-in-law, Linda Pritt, Ozark, AL and Dorothy Arbogast, El Paso, TX, one brother, Dick Wegman, Adolph, one sister, Flossie Louk, Petersburg, VA, eighteen grandchildren, Penny, Tracy, Stoney, Linda, April, Joey, Matt, Dianne, Lisa, Susie, Roger Jr., Tammy, Kristie, Steve, Greg, Adam, Brittany, and Ryan, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband are four sons, Roger Pritt, Danny Arbogast, and infants Raymond and Lewis Arbogast, one daughter, Glenda King, four brothers, Henry, Robert, Bud, and Howard Wegman, three sisters, Fannie Holt, Bessie Teter, and Cora McCauley, and two grandchildren, Delmas Johnson, Jr. and Jeffrey Arbogast.
She attended Bradley Mountain School and had worked as a Nurses’ Aide for Memorial General Hospital and for the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, where she also worked as a kitchen aide, having retired in 1986. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 12 noon. Pastor Bryan M. Headley will officiate and interment will follow at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Mountain Hospice for their special care and would also like to invite friends to the Beverly Fire Hall following the service for a time of refreshments and memories of Carrie.
