| | | LOIS PATRICIA “PAT” MOELLENDICK ALBURY, age 72 years, a resident of 301 Grant Street, Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life late Thursday evening, November 14, 2002 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, West Virginia. She had been in declining health since August.
She was born, Sunday, January 26, 1930, at New Martinsville, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Curtis Kenneth Moellendick and Florence Bowen Moellendick. On November 14, 1952, at New Martinsville, West Virginia, she was married to Murphy David “Murph” Albury, Jr., who preceded her in death November 6, 2001. Surviving are one daughter, Rita Marie Albury, Montgomery, WV., three brothers, John and Joe Moellendick, both of New Martinsville, WV., David Moellendick, Sistersville, WV., two sisters Nancy Staley and husband Bernard and Kathy McGuire and husband Ron, all of New Martinsville, WV. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph “Arnold” Albury and one daughter, Ellen Cecile Albury.
She was a graduate of Magnolia High School, with the Class of 1947, was a graduate of Davis and Elkins College with an associate degree in business, was a former employee of the Monongahela Power Company at New Martinsville, WV., had worked as Secretary at Elkins High School for over twenty five years and retired from the Randolph County Board of Education Office in 1988. She had served as Cheerleader Coach and Tennis Coach at Elkins High School, was a member of the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Guild of the Church, the Davis and Elkins College Aid, was selected as Secretary of the Year for the Beta Alpha Beta Business Fraternity in 1987, was a member and past president of the Ladies of the Elk’s, was a member and past president of the Randolph County School Personnel, was the Author of the Rags to Riches Cookbook, which is well known in the area, was a former Chairperson of the Holly Ball, was a former Chairperson of Hallie Days at Davis and Elkins College and played an active roll for the Forest Festival Queens Ball. Mrs. Albury along with her husband, were well known teachers of ballroom dancing.
Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 to 9 PM, Sunday. On Sunday at 7:30 PM, at the funeral home, a prayer service will be recited by the Reverend Father William Anderson. On Monday morning, Mrs. Albury will be moved to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM. The Reverend Father William Anderson will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
