| | | WINIFRED TAYLOR BALL, age 90 years, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, August 31, 2005 at the Broaddus Hospital at Philippi, West Virginia. She had been in declining health.
She was born Monday, October 12, 1914 at Elkins, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Jay Taylor and Lota Weese Taylor. On November 3, 1935, she was married to Odra N. Ball, who preceded her in death February 10, 2000. Surviving are three sisters, Rella Doerr, Elkins, Gladys Harris and Rose Chenoweth, both of Akron, Ohio, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband are two brothers, Gilbert and Stuart Taylor and four sisters, Kathleen Snyder, Mildred Warren, Grace Judy and Ella Mae Taylor.
Winifred was a graduate of Elkins High School, attended Davis and Elkins College and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. She had worked as a clerk at the former Memorial General Hospital and People’s Life Insurance Company, was a member of the Delphia Rebekah Lodge # 62 and the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Saturday, September 3, 2005 from 11 AM to 1 PM, the funeral hour. The Reverend Jonas Johnson, Jr. will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
