| | | BEATRICE ARVEETA WHITE KELLEY BARRICKMAN, age 97 years, an original Homesteader of the Dailey Community, and more recently a resident of the Elkins I.O.O.F. Home, departed this life Tuesday evening, September 14, 2004 at the home. She had been in declining health.
She was born Monday, April 22, 1907, at Dry Fork, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Alonzo Wilmoth White and Martha Alice White, both members of Pioneer families of Randolph County. She was twice married. First to Clarence Kelley, who preceded her in death during 1927. Second, on March 28, 1931, she was married to Lewis Morgan Barrickman, who preceded her in death November 19, 1977. Surviving are three sons, Willard L. “Bill” Kelley and wife Margaret, Buckhannon, Carroll G. Barrickman, Barberton, Ohio, Dana Barrickman and wife Margorie, Dailey, two daughters, Cordella Horan, Asheville, New York, Norma Wamsley and husband Clarence, Dailey, one sister, Pearl Lipscomb, Belington, seventeen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husbands are one son, Emmett Barrickman, two daughters, Bernadine Feathers and Shirley Jean Zavatsky, three brothers, Foster, Woodrow and Bruce White and three sisters, Ruth Fansler, Cressie Bohon and Madeline Fluharty.
She attended the schools of Dry Fork and Whitmer, was a school teacher for two years and had worked as an Aid at the Memorial General Hospital. She was a Board Member of the Tyrand Parish and was a volunteer for seven years, was a member of the Huttonsville Rebekah Lodge # 103, the Dailey-Valley Bend CEOS, the Tygarts Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Valley Bend United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher for fifty-five years.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, Saturday. On Saturday, at 7 PM, at the funeral home, the Huttonsville Rebekah Lodge # 103, will conduct ritualistic services. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Sunday, September 19, 2004, at 1 PM. The Reverend Billee Scott Mick will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah’s Home, 225 Georgetown Road, Elkins, West Virginia 26241 or to Mountain Hospice, 1410 Crim Avenue, Belington, West Virginia 26250.
