| | | MILDRED “JACKIE” HEATER ALLMAN, age 98 years, a resident of Parsons, WV., and more recently a resident of the Colonial Place at Elkins, departed this life Sunday afternoon, June 27, 2004 at the Colonial Place.
She was born August 22, 1905 at Heater, WV., a daughter of the late J.B. Heater and Emma McCartney Heater. On August 25, 1926, she was married to Forrest O. Allman, who preceded her in death May 12, 1972.
Surviving are one granddaughter; Katherine Gordon Taylor, one grandson; Jon Stephen Gordon, four great grandchildren, five nieces and one nephew.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one daughter; Heleena Allman Gordon, one brother William W. Heater, one sister; Margaret Burns, three half brothers and three half sisters, and one son in law; Dr. Daniel B. Gordon.
She was a graduate of Sutton High School with the class of 1924,and attended Glenville State College. She was a schoolteacher in the Braxton County schools and a substitue teacher in Tucker County during World War II. She practiced nursing as an LPN at the former Tucker County Hospital at Parsons until retiring. She was an active member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church at Parsons since 1939. She was a noted cook, gardener and she had a great love for the game of dominoes.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM until 6 to 8 PM. Mrs. Allman will be moved to the St. Johns United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 30, 2004, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM.
