| | | HAZEL RUTH ARMENTROUT, age 93 years, a native of Gladwin, WV., and a resident of the Ashe Living Center at Jefferson, North Carolina, departed this life early Monday Morning, June 21, 2004 at the center. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to Alzheimer disease.
She was born Sunday, September 4, 1910 at Gladwin, WV., a daughter of the late Lloyd G. Day and Minnie May Long Day. She was married to Byron Armentrout, who preceded her in death.
Also surviving are one son; Harlon Armentrout of Lansing, NC., one grandson; Timothy Armentrout of Lansing, NC, three granddaughters; Patricia J. Rankin of Stark, Fla., Ellen Ruth Gambardella of Morivan Falls, NC., and Brenda Beeman of Lake Butler, Fla., five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by three brothers; Charles Day, Theodore Day and Harry Day, four sisters; Marie Hertig, Charlotte Hull, Elva Parsons and Geraldine Day.
She attended the school of Harmon, worked for the American Plant and Food Company of Washington, D.C., she attended the Phoenix Baptist Church at Lansing, NC. She was noted for her writing poems.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday, June 25, 2004 from 10 AM until 11 AM the funeral hour. The Reverend John Morrison will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV.
