| | | THE REVEREND ROBERT LEE BAER, SR., age 69 years, a resident of Davis Street, Elkins, WV went to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, March 25, 2009 at his home.
He was born Sunday, November 5, 1939 at Salisbury, Pa, a son of the late Ralph Baer and Margaret Orner Baer. On November 5, 1960 at Elkins, WV he was married to the former Anna Belle Summerfield, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Deborah See and husband Chris, Valley Bend; The Reverend Robert Lee Baer, Jr., Belington; Vicki Pennington and husband Frank, Valley Bend; Amy Ware and husband Bobby, Elkins; two brothers, Ralph Baer Jr. and wife Wilda; and Carl Baer and wife Delores, all of Frostburg, MD; one sister, Linda Arnold and husband Ralph, Salisbury, PA; and five grandchildren; Adam and Samantha See; Jonathan Baer, Frankie Pennington; and Alyssa Ware.
Preceding him in death are two sisters, Carol McKenzie and Anna Mae Hochard.
He was a graduate of Myersdale High School with the Class of 1958 and attended trade school and worked as a television repairman at Montgomery Wards of Elkins for twenty years. He later graduated from Seminary in Delaware, OH with the Class of 2007.
He served as the pastor of the Mingo Charge and most recently pastored the Beverly and Valley Bend United Methodist Church’s. His greatest love was volunteering for the Tyrand Ministries, raising money for their new bunkhouse which is used for mission work.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Friday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11 AM. The Reverend Gary Phillips will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Tyrand Cooperative Ministries, P. O. Box 365, Mill Creek, WV 26280.
