| | | PETER SCOTT BALLANTYNE, age 43 years, a resident of Elkins, departed this life early Sunday morning, November 9, 2008 at the home of his father, John N. Ballantyne of Elkins. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born Monday, December 14, 1964, at Elkins, a son of John N. Ballantyne and the late Marion VanderMeer Ballantyne.
Surviving is one son, Eli Davis Ballantyne, Elkins, one brother, John David ‘Jody’ Ballantyne and wife, Kim, Frankfort, KY. He was married to the former Crystal Davis, who survives at Elkins.
Preceding him in death was one sister, Mary Ann Gomez.
He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1983, attended West Virginia University, and Coastal College at Myrtle Beach, SC. He was the manager of various clubs and restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area. He was a ski instructor at Canaan Valley, was a real estate sales agent and licensed appraiser, having worked for Di-Tech and GMAC, and at the time of his death, was an agent for Coldwell Banker Home Town Realty of Elkins. He was an avid camper and had a very ‘down to earth’ personality.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 11 AM. The Reverend William Sullivan will officiate and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contribtuions to the Peter Ballantyne Trust Fund for Eli Ballantyne in care of Huntington Bank, P. O. Box 1279, Elkins, WV 26241-1279.
