MERLE DESSIE LIPSCOMB ADAMS, age 105 years, a resident of St. George, WV., departed this life Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas.
She was born Friday, April 17, 1903 at Preston County, a daughter of the late Oliver Lipscomb and Anna Elizabeth Victoria Moreland. She was married to John C. Adams, who preceded her in death, during 1958.
Surviving is one brother; Bryce Lipscomb of Ohio.
Preceding her in death are four brothers; Alvin, Luther, Earl and Howard Lipscomb and three sisters; Esther Martin, Gay Durr, and Dorothy Miller.
She attended the one room school at White Ridge. She was a housewife and farmer. She was an avid canner and she loved to read. She was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church. She loved to spend time with friends.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons0 on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11 AM. The Reverend Neil Parsons will officiate and interment will follow at the Limestone Cemetery at St. George, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for MERLE DESSIE LIPSCOMB ADAMS.
